FREE HUG EVENTS
Increasing awareness around Mental Health, we are holding Free Hug Events every month until the end of the year. These events are being held in Wellington and Auckland right now. We are happy to hold them in other cities, just let us know and we will see what we can do.
I have a number of clients who are unhappy in their day to day lives. They are more stressed, less sure of themselves, and as we discover during our sessions, they are often not getting their Love Language met. In this case it's often the need of physical touch.
When a primary love language is unmet by partners, friends, family or team mates this can lead to higher levels of feeling not enough, feeling unworthy, higher levels of stress or even depression. We work on strategies on how to get their love language met during our coaching sessions. Sometimes it can be challenging for clients because although they now consciously realise what they need, not everyone in their circle is interested or aware, of doing something that is important to someone else and not in line with their own needs. They may have different ways of feeling loved or appreciated as so don't truly understand this need.
I hadn't been aware of what else I could do to highlight and tackle the issue around the lack of physical touch in our community, something which sadly is so ingrained in our culture now. Hugs and Physical touch are deemed Taboo!
This lack of connection is everywhere, and often we seem to connect more readily to our phones and computers than in person. Even if we are sitting at a table together, often both parties are on their phones. There is less eye contact, less physical contact. Have a look around next time you are out and about and notice what do you see?
We are starved of physical touch, eye to eye contact and heart to heart connection. Let's bring it back together!

What Inspired me to run these events? An amazing woman Ale I know, came back from an overseas holiday recently where had been given a hug by a stranger at a hug event held in Sydney. She so happy, she was beaming about it for days.
Something inside my heart and gut sparked a thought, I quickly decided that we could run powerful events here in Wellington and other cities to help our community get their Love Language of Physical Touch met through meaning and powerful hugs.
I reached out to my network of incredible people and we soon had our first event up and running. My daughter Katarina designed the posters and both her and my eldest son Andreas helped out at our first Hug Event. I am so very grateful for their support.
Ellen Giggenbach from Petone's coolest little shop designed our awesome t-shirts as our first sponsor. Thank you Ellen if you would like to check out her amazing range of home furnishings https://www.ellengiggenbach.com

Family therapist Virginia Satir once said, “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.”
Our First Event - 29 September 2019 - was a HUGE success, we hugged around 1500 people within a 2-hour period. It was incredible! We felt incredible! Our hearts were so open and we were filled with so much love. The windy and cold weather wasn't even a consideration after the event started. Free Hugs was shouted by our volunteers to all that were passing. It was so awesome!!!!
Our Second Event - Sunday 20th October. We have double the amount of volunteer huggers at this month's event. I am so excited!!
If you would like to join our tribe, get in touch. The information will be on our facebook page so join us there.
